JOYCE B. GRIFFIN's Obituary
PERRY –
Joyce Batchelor Griffin passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023, after an extended illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Graveside Services will also be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, she respectfully asked that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Perry - House of God Fund, or The Westfield School.
Joyce was born March 8, 1934, in Perry. She was a life-long resident of Houston County. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Perry for over sixty-five years and the Joy Sunday School class. She was tax commissioner of Houston County for over twenty-three years, and to date, is the longest serving tax official in the history of Houston County.
Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Paul Griffin; one of her daughters, Nicole Griffin; her parents, Bob and Sara Batchelor; and a sister, Ann Taylor.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Joyce are her devoted daughter, Kelly Hamsley (Michael) of Perry; the joy of her life, her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her has “Jebe”, Kalla Hamsley and Griffin Hamsley (Allison), both of Perry; her great-grandchildren, Hayes and Olivia Hamsley of Perry; her siblings, Martha Pierce of Warner Robins, Mary Jones of Eastman, Robert Batchelor of Macon, and Richard Batchelor (Margaret) of Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
