Joyce Averett's Obituary
Joyce Averett, age 78, went to be with her Lord and to be reunited with her husband of 53 years on December 11, 2015 in the comfort of her home. She was surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her. Her girls, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her heart and she was described as never having known a stranger. The word “Love” encompassed Joyce in both her personality and her actions towards others.Joyce graduated from Murphy High School in 1955 where she was a majorette in the marching band. She also sang as a soloist in her church's choir and has been a member of Satsuma First Baptist Church for many years.She was predeceased by her parents, Walter Sr. and Minnie Holman, and husband, Joe Averett.She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (“Flakey”) Parker, Terri (Terry) Brown, and Susie Lee Cortopassi, Grandchildren, Bradley (Kelly), Jessica (Andy), Sarah (Garret), Sam, Mary (Zak), Sydney, Mallory, Chris (Courtney), 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11am in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Friends should meet at the graveside and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Satsuma First Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
