BLACKSHEAR, GA -Joy Danzig Weir, 81, formerly of Elko, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018. A Graveside Seervice will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens in Perry, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Satilla, 805 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.Mrs. Weir was born in Rochester, NY, to the late Eugene and Margaret Stewart Danzig. She married the love of her life, Richard Weir, in 1955. The couple moved to the Americus/Sumter County area in 1957, and relocated to Elko in 1974, where she remained until April 2018, when she moved in with her daughter and family. Mrs. Weir was a Bookkeeper for Kellwood Company, a textile manufacturer that was located in Perry for many years, and she helped her husband with the family business, D & D Bull Motel, an artificial insimination business for cattle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving and devoted husband, Richard "Dick" Weir.Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Weir are her children, Donald Weir of Elko, Kathy Weir of Byron, and Donna Boatright (Steve) of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Dustin Weir, Daniel Weir, Margaret West (Holden), and Stephen Boatright (Dilcia); and one great-granddaughter, Dawson West.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
