JOSEPH ROSCOE MARLOWE's Obituary
Joseph Roscoe Marlowe, 85, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in Perry, Georgia. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Joseph Kennedy Organization for the Special Olympics, 2600 Virginia Avenue NW, 11th Floor, Washington, DC 20037.
Joseph was born on February 13, 1940, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Harvey and Ruth Montgomery Marlowe. As the eldest of 11 children, Joseph's leadership and protective nature were evident from a young age. In 1973, he moved to Georgia to pursue a career as an iron worker with Local 387, a role that showcased his dedication and skill.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ruth Marlowe; his sons, Joseph Aubrey Marlowe and Todd Hayward Marlowe; and his loving wife of 60 years, Frances “Frankie” Ellen Hayward Marlowe.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Joseph are his daughters, Sherry Lynn Marlowe and Kaye Anthony; sisters, Sarah Ruthe Marlowe, Julia Faye Marlowe, and Letitia Marlowe; brother, Mitch Marlowe; his friend and caregiver, Sherie Dickerson; and many nephews and nieces.
