Life Legacy
PERRY-Joseph W. "Joe" Nadeau, Sr., 94, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at his home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry. Visitation will be held on Monday one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church of Perry, 1105 Main Street, Perry, GA 31069 or Homestead Hospice, 500 Osigian Blvd., Suite 300, Warner Robins, GA 31088.Mr. Nadeau was born March 3, 1923. He joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 18 at the beginning of World War II. After being honorably discharged at the end of the war, he came to Atlanta where he met his future wife, Virginia Burgess. Most of his career was spent as a mariner, much of it with Chevron Oil Company. The family moved to the Atlanta area in 1960. Although his education was limited, Mr. Nadeau was able to build the house they lived in for nearly 40 years. He could read a book and then be able to build anything. Later, he built their house on Lake Sinclair. After his retirement, Mr. Nadeau enjoyed antique cars and spending time with this grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Nadeau.Mr. Nadeau is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Virginia Burgess Nadeau of Perry; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Karen Nadeau of Buford, and Jim and Sheree Nadeau of Kathleen; his grandchildren, Zack Nadeau, Caitlin Nadeau, Sheridan Nadeau, and Logan Nadeau; and many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as "Uncle Joe".Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
