JOHN BYERLY OLDFIELD's Obituary
PERRY, GA –
John Byerly Oldfield, 61, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 11, 2024, with his beloved family at his side. Private services at Crossroads Church of Perry will be held.
John was born on August 21, 1962, in Hartsville, South Carolina, to the late Paul and Mary Oldfield. He was a Clerk with the United States Postal Service at the post office in Oakland Park, Florida. Always a family man, John enjoyed taking everyone to the beach and going camping, sometimes both at the same time. His children recall exciting trips to Sanibel Island and Naples when they were young. John retired from USPS with twenty-five years of service. Upon retirement, John immediately opened “Pop Pop Daycare” for his grandchildren, who he kept every day while their parents worked. Once they became school age, he would drive them to and from school while continuing to keep the little ones at home each day. He was always a jokester, and the grandchildren delighted in watching him make everyone laugh. Collecting seashells was also one of his favorite pastimes. After living in Palm Beach, Florida, for many years, John and his wife moved to Perry two years ago to be near family. Anyone who knew him knew that family was his passion.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Nova Adams, Ronnie Oldfield, and Donnie Oldfield; and a granddaughter, Kaylee Oldfield.
Left to cherish the memories they made with John are his loving and devoted wife of thirty-nine years, Annmarie Oldfield of Perry; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jason See of Perry; his son, John Paul Oldfield of Perry; his grandchildren, Gianna See, Jaelyn See, Jaxson See, Annabelle Oldfield, and John Luke Oldfield; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
