Life Legacy
PERRY-John E. Newton, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Perry with funeral following at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be Monday, May 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. on the Pavilion at Andersonville National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to House of God, First Baptist Church of Perry, 1105 Main Street, Perry, GA 31069.Mr. Newton was born in Anderson County, SC, to the late Clyde and Edith Martin Newton. For nearly 40 years, he worked as a Lab Technician with the Southeastern U.S. Department of Agriculture Research - Fruit and Nut Laboratory, where he retired. He was a member for 44 years of First Baptist Church of Perry, where he was saved, and was a member of the Jimmy Teresi Sunday School Class. Mr. Newton was a member of the American Legion and the Lions Club. A Master Gardener, he enjoyed gardening and delighted in sharing fruits and vegetables with friends and neighbors. Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Foster, Joan Martin; and brother, Ansel Newton. Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Bobbie Newton of Perry; his sisters, Barbara Collins of Easley, SC, and Daisy Lindsey (Gordon) of Ft.
