Life Legacy
John C. Lieberman, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2016. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The Committal Service will take place at the Columbarium in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to St. Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund, 2410 Highway 127, Kathleen, GA 31047 or The American Legion Post 24, PO Box 1062, Perry, GA 31069.John was born in Mahanoy City, PA and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Lieberman. He married the love of his life Loretta (Rett) L. Lucyk, (deceased) also of Pennsylvania. John served in World War II and religiously wore his WWII Veteran cap, but his career and passion was the brewing industry. John started his career in his family's brewery, Kaier's Beer, in 1947 after earning his degree in brewing from The Siebel Institute of Technology. At Kaier's, he served a dual role as plant manager and Brewmaster. In 1969, he was recruited by the Pabst Brewing Company to relocate to Perry and assist with the startup of their brewery. While at Pabst, John was promoted numerous times and was ultimately appointed Operations Manager. In 1983, G. Heileman Brewing acquired the Pabst plant and promoted John to Plant Manager. He remained with Heileman until retirement and later continued as a consultant. John has authored numerous articles for the brewing industry, the Mahanoy City historical society and American Breweriana. John was an active and lifetime member of the Master Brewers Association. John was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church and spearheaded the original St. Patrick Parish fundraising committee. He served as a member of the parish council for years in various positions, and he and Rett were recipients of the 2013 Bishop Garland Award. Left to cherish the memories of John are his children, Eric John Lieberman (September) of Perry and Janet (Tony) Galvin of Winter Park, FL; his siblings, Dr. Joseph A. Lieberman of New York City, NY, Mrs. Margaret Cimei (Anthony) of Westfield, NJ, Mrs. Mary Loizeaux of Lakehurst, NJ. Brother in Laws Edward J. Lucyk, Barnesville, PA and Dr. Daniel Lucyk, Hazelton, PA; his grandchildren Ryan Eric Lieberman (Courtney) of West Palm Beach, FL, Matthew John Lieberman of Perry, GA, Jacob Anthony Galvin of Winter Park, FL, Courtney Curtin Galvin of Winter Park, FL, great granddaughter Isabella Danielle Lieberman of West Palm Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews who meant so much to him. The family is so thankful for all the kindness shown by the staff of the Summer's Landing Assisted Living Facility, his extended family at St. Patrick Parish; and all of John's Brewery andAmerican Legion friends.
