JOHN "Johnny" ANDREW ROWLAND SR.'s Obituary
CENTERVILLE – John Andrew Rowland, SR, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2021. All funeral services will be private. The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to: Scottish Rite Hospital, c/o Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation,1575 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
Johnny was born in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Fred Watson and Lillian McMillan Rowland. He was self-employed with John Rowland Homes in the construction business for many years, getting his start with W.G. Mullins. Johnny was a faithful member of Assembly of God Church in Fort Valley, where he loved to serve and worship. Johnny felt he was truly blessed to have been under the best Pastor ever, the late Pastor Horace Chapman. Johnny participated at Second Memorial Baptist Church in Perry and he also taught Sunday school at Assembly of God Church in Perry. He spent quiet moments reading his bible. Johnny always looked forward to the holidays, when he could spend time with his family.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Johnny are, his children, Edward Rowland (Jennifer) of Perry, Stacy Rowland DeLoach, of Atlanta, and John Rowland, Jr. of Macon; his grandson, Andrew Rowland of Macon; his brother, Lanny Rowland of Unadilla; his sisters, Brenda Stokes, of Perry, Betty Schwartz, and Barbara Godfrey, both of Warner Robins; many nieces and nephews; and his first love and former wife, the mother of his children, Peggy Sledge Rowland; and his friend, Sue Phalan of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jeremy Rowland; his brothers, Wayne Bedgood, Norris Bedgood and Darryl Rowland; his nieces, Lynn Rowland Wright, and Tracy Singletary Grimes.
