John F. Davis Jr.'s Obituary
John F. Davis Jr., age 83, a lifelong resident of Tanner Williams, AL passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. John retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Mobile County Road and Bridge. He was a Blacksmith, avid rabbit hunter and rodeo hand. He was the Tri State Roping Champion in 1962, 1998 inducted into the Mobile County Horseman’s Hall of Fame and 1989 Honored as “Mr. Woodman” by Woodman of the World. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mattie Davis, children, John R. “Buck” (Melba) Davis, Carol (Gary) Barker, Susan (Steve) Bates, James “Jim” (Linda) Davis, grandchildren, Travis Barker, Brad Davis, Todd Barker, Matt Davis, Jeff Davis, Tyler Barker, Caitlin Bates, great grandchildren, Kyle Cavalier, Kaleb Barker, Landon Davis, Conner Barker, Madison Davis, Emily Davis, Siblings, Etta Nelson, Gail Middleton, Betty Gray Skoglund, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at Tanner Williams Holiness Church on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 12 noon with visitation starting 10 am until service time. Interment will be in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tanner Williams Holiness Church on 14801 Tanner Williams Wilmer, AL 36587.
