JOHN BOLAND's Obituary
PERRY –
John James Boland, 90, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2022, at his residence. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Graveside Services will also be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens.
John was born in New Paltz, New York, to the late Charles and Katherine O'Brian Boland. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army when he was drafted during the Korean War. Upon his return from the military, he took a job as a prison guard where he worked for a few years. He saw the benefits of being a business owner and purchased a Wise Potato Chips truck which he operated for over ten years. While living in New York, John was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Club and was a Charter Member of the Elks Club. He always enjoyed golfing and bowling with family and friends. In 1981, he moved to Perry, Georgia, where he bought and managed an RV Park. After over thirty years, he and his wife sold the park and retired. Having been from a large family himself, John loved spending time with his own large family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Boland; and six of his siblings.
Left to cherish the memories they made with John are his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, Teresa Craig Boland of Perry; his children, Debbie Scism (Jim) of Poughkeepsie, NY, John Boland (Phylis) of Milton, NY, Brett Boland of Florida, Matthew Boland (Brittany) of Hawkinsville, GA, and Christina Boland of Perry, GA; his sister, Helen Marquette; eighteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
