Jimmy Lewis Greenway's Obituary
Jimmy L. Greenway, 79 of Perry, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, on Friday, November 23, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. with Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that donations be made in his memory to Lutheran Village, c/o Christ Lutheran Church, 208 Langston Road, Perry, Georgia 31069. Jimmy was born in Alcoa, Tennessee, on October 17, 1959. He was raised on Crouch’s Mountain in Valdese, North Carolina, by his step-father and mother, Troy and Louise Page Crouch. He grew up in a tiny house with twelve other family members. Those humble beginnings taught Jimmy how important it was to share what he had and to be prepared for anything. He saw an opportunity to better himself and chose to join the Air Force in 1959. After twenty years in the Air Force, Jimmy was finally able to give back to the community. He turned the necessity he felt as a child into volunteering and donating his time and resources to a soup kitchen in Montezuma, Georgia. The job he treasured the most, was being a father to his children. He was an amazing friend to many. Jimmy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He received an Associate’s Degree from Cal State, and both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of twenty-nine years, Emmi Fruehauf Greenway, who passed away in June of 2017, his siblings, Tommy Lynn Greenway and Patricia Louise Greenway. Left to cherish the memories they shared with Jimmy are his children, Stephan Greenway of Austria, Carmen Saavedra of Williamsburg, Virginia, Frank Fruehauf of Germany, Petra Sheppard (Chris) of Chotaw, Oklahoma, and Sabrina Jones (Brooks) of Austin, Arkansas; his grand-children, Matthias Walsh of Morehead City, N.C., Manuel Saavedra (Thias) of Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer Caneda (Tylor) of Perry, Sophia and Anna Greenway of Colorado, Braylon Jones of Austin, Arkansas, and Emmi Caneda (still in mama’s womb) of Perry; and his adopted son, Wayne Fisher (Andrea) of Kathleen. Condolences for the family may be left in our online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
