JIMMY GIBBS's Obituary
PERRY –
James Edward “Jimmy” Gibbs, II, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 3, 2023, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 36. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. The Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., and the Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to FOPAS, Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, 204 Kellwood Drive, Perry, GA 31069.
A lifelong resident of Perry, Jimmy attended First Baptist Church of Perry for nearly twenty years with his parents. He graduated from Perry High School with the Class of 2005. As a child, Jimmy was constantly creating and building structures with anything and everything. While his mechanical mind developed through the years, so did his ability to instinctively assemble and adjust the parts to whatever he was working on at the time. He was a brilliant mechanic who had successfully worked on HVAC and refrigeration with TransArctic of Southern Georgia for nearly ten years. Jimmy had a huge heart full of love for his family and friends with whom he loved spending time. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed for home repairs, helped maintain vehicles, and particularly enjoyed working on his own truck. Jimmy always loved being outdoors, riding his four-wheeler, dirt bikes, and motorcycles. He dearly loved and cared for his faithful four-legged companion of many years, his dog, Sally, a Bulldog mix he would never leave home alone. Sally was always thrilled to see Jimmy and always greeted him with kindness and compassion, no matter what kind of day he had endured, and he would always flash her his perfect smile.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James E. and Mary S. Gibbs.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Jimmy are his mother, Lynne Gibbs of Perry; his father, Johnny Gibbs (Becky) of Perry; his brothers, Johnny Gibbs of Perry, and Cody Gibbs (Sarah) of Winterville; his stepsister, Ali Ikner of Gordon; his maternal grandmother, Ethel Fullmore of Perry; his maternal grandfather, James Bryant of Ellaville; his Uncle Darrin Bryant and his Aunt Robin Bryant, both of Perry; his Uncle Charles and Aunt Sylvia Gibbs of Kathleen; his Aunt Faye Cofield of Warner Robins; his Aunt Pat and Uncle “O” Garcia of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; several cousins and other extended family members; and his dog, Sally.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
