JIM YAWN's Obituary
PERRY, GA –
James Edward “Jim” Yawn passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024. He was 81 years old. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Yawn Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Loaves and Fishes of South Houston County, 1128 Macon Road, Perry, GA 31069.
Born on September 16, 1942, in Cordele, Georgia, Jim was the son of the late Joe Edward and Martha Louise Williams Yawn. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a compassionate, caring Christian. Jim was taught at an early age from his parents about hard work, accountability, and Christian ethics and morals. Those lessons would guide him as he journeyed through a twenty-six-year career in the U. S. Air Force, through a twenty-year career with Civil Service as the C-5 Program Manager, through times as a community volunteer and a leader with Loaves and Fishes of South Houston County, and through a sixty-year marriage with the love of his life. But most importantly, Jim’s upbringing led him to be a Christian and a servant of God. He was proud to serve as a Mason and a Shriner. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise Yawn, and his daughter, Michelle “Mickey” Yawn.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Jim are his loving and devoted wife of sixty years, Sandra “Sandy” Yawn of Perry; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Becky McDavid Yawn of Friendswood, Texas; and four grandsons, Jonathan Michael Yawn of Chicago, Illinois, James Patrick Yawn of Killeen, Texas, and Jared Parker Yawn, and Jake Mitchell Yawn, both of Friendswood, Texas.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
