JERRY WARREN PITZER's Obituary
PERRY –
Jerry Warren Pitzer, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with Scott Ford and Pastor Matt Caporale officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Watson-Hunt Funeral Home, P. O. Box 52, Perry, GA 31069, in order to offset the unexpected funeral expenses.
Jerry was born on February 5, 1958, in Perry. He graduated from Perry High School in the Class of 1976. In 1979, he married the love of his life, Joanie Brooks. Jerry was a hard-working, determined man who was a passionate farmer. He loved dairy farming and growing crops using the skills he learned at a young age on the Pitzer family farm. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his friends. Jerry worked hard for everything he wanted in life and was always willing to help others in need. However, his life took an unexpected turn when he became paralyzed after an accident on January 17, 1998. But being strong-willed and accepting of his circumstances, Jerry persevered and kept living. He quickly learned the value of time and made sure to prioritize being with family, especially his children and grandchildren. Jerry had a great sense of humor and would go the extra mile to make people smile. Whether it was making kind-hearted gestures, cracking jokes, or telling funny stories, he had a way of making everyone feel good after visiting with him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Grubby Pitzer, and a brother, Marcus “Lucky” Pitzer.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Jerry are his loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Joanie Pitzer of Perry; his daughters, Melissa Pitzer of Hahira and Jessica Pitzer of Cochran; six grandchildren; his mother, Betty Jo Pitzer of Statesboro; his brothers, Jeff Pitzer of Florida, and Lynn Pitzer (Michelle) of Statesboro; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
