JEAN ARTUHEWICH SHAFFER's Obituary
FT. VALLEY –
Jean Artuhewich Shaffer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2020, after an extended illness. There will be a Private Graveside Service for the family in Sarasota, Florida, next week. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the donor’s favorite charity.
Jean was born in Paterson, New Jersey, to the late Walter and Mary Melnick Artuhewich. She was a homemaker all of her life, creating a loving and welcoming environment for her husband and son through the years. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening. Jean was a member of Saint Andrew United Church of Christ in Sarasota, Florida, where she and her husband had lived for fifteen years. Upon his passing in 2013, she moved to Warner Robins to be near her son. For five years, she lived at Antebellum Grove, participated in the various resident activities, was social with her neighbors, and made some great friends there. When her health declined, she moved to Ft. Valley Health and Rehabilitation and had been there for the past two years. At both facilities, Jean and her family were pleased with the care she received and thankful for those whom she encountered regularly. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her loving and faithful husband of 57 years, Franklin Glenn Shaffer.
Left to cherish the memories of Jean is her beloved only child, her devoted son, David Shaffer of Ft. Valley.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
