Jean Coleman Jones' Obituary
Age 89, a resident of Theodore, AL passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017. She is survived by her children, Cindy (Bob) Woods, Debbie (Braden) Davis, Carol (Mike) Lambert, Chris Jones and Randy Jones, grandchildren, Brian Woods, Michelle Woods and Mathew Lambert, great grandchildren, Caden Wilson and Gage Woods, brother, Frank Coleman, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jean was like a mother and grandmother figure to Randy's ex-spouse and girls Heather, Holly and Heidi.Jean loved music and dance. She would tell a story she held dear to her heart about her father, Hugh who played the saxophone in a local jazz band, would set up in their living room and play a tune on his sax and say "Okay sweetheart show me what you learned in dance class today".Jean always saw to it that her children lived in nice neighborhoods and went to good schools. Her husband Johnny's job required them to move at the least, every 3 years. She would meticulously search the cities to find an ideal home, even though they wouldn't be there long at any address. She made every house a home and would spend weeks unpacking and adding her special touch to every room. It wasn't expected, that's just the way it was. No matter the city or the state, the Jones yard was always where her kid's and neighborhood friends would play because Jean was the "Cool Mom". They did not live in the lap of luxury but did not know what it was to want. There was always a roof over their heads, food in their belly's and clothes on their backs. You were expected, in return to be at the dinner table by 6 in the evening for the family dinner, to be respectful, polite and appreciative of what one had. Jean and John taught that you bow your head and give praise to the Lord for the little things in life and the big things would come easier. That's just the way it is. She made her husband a better man, her daughters better women and her sons better men. She was known by few but loved by many. Please join us in a celebration of her life.Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16th , 2017 at 2 pm with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
