PERRY-Jean Burnett Baxley, 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016,at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with interment in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., the hour preceding the service, at the funeral home.Mrs. Baxley was born in Jones County but was a long time resident of Perry. A 33-year employee and first woman officer of the Perry Police Department, she had worked as a traffic officer, meter maid, and a dispatcher. After retiring from the police force, she worked as a security guard at the Georgia National Farigrounds.Left to cherish her memory are her children, William Kenneth "Bear" Baxley and Vicki Aultman, both of Perry; three sisters; ten grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Baxley, Sr.; her sons, Bobby Baxley and Joe Baxley; a grandchild, Kerry Aultman; and a great-grandchild, Amy Alexis Potts.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
