PERRY –
Jarrett Chapman Nelson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Houston Lake Baptist Church with Reverend Fred McCoy officiating. A private interment will be held in Perry Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be graciously accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Houston Lake Baptist Church Building Fund, 2300 GA Hwy 127, Perry, GA 31069.
Jarrett was born on December 24, 1935, to the late Henry and Blanche Lacey Nelson. He proudly served in the Georgia Army National Guard for over ten years. Jarrett married the love of his life, Betty Batchelor, in 1958, and the couple raised two sons. Jarrett was a Computer Specialist with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base from where he retired after thirty-one years of service. He was a Mason for over fifty years and was an active member of Houston Lake Baptist Church.
Jarrett was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dan Nelson, Charles Nelson, and Melvin Nelson; and his sister, Faye Schollenberger Pace.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Jarrett are his loving and devoted wife of nearly sixty-five years, Betty Batchelor Nelson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Wendy Nelson and Wayne and Pam Nelson, all of Perry; his grandchildren, Cody Nelson (Halee), Logan Nelson, and Lacey Nelson; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
