JANIE MCLEOD GUPTON's Obituary
PERRY –
Janie McLeod Gupton, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest with her parents. Reverend Jamie Powell will officiate.
Janie was born in Dublin to the late James and Faye Rozier McLeod. A lifelong resident of Perry, Janie graduated from Perry High School in 1963. She loved children and, for many years, kept children in her home while their parents worked. Parents felt comfortable, because they knew that Janie would care for their children just like she did her own in a loving and nurturing environment. As her own children grew up and left home, Janie continued to be around kids by accepting a position with Houston County School System driving a school bus every morning and afternoon. She enjoyed her job for many years and eventually began working for The Westfield School doing the same thing. Janie retired after nearly twenty-five years. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Perry where she was also a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David McLeod.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Janie are her loving and devoted children, Joseph “Jody” Gupton and Tracy Haynie, both of Perry; her granddaughters, Rebekah Hunt and Spree Haynie; her great-granddaughter, Kodie Hunt; her siblings, Bobby McLeod (Glenda) of Milledgeville, Sandra Greathouse (Harris) and Jimmy McLeod (Vivian), both of Perry; and many nieces and nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
