Janet was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on November 4, 1946, to Jack Byron and Fretta Dalton Stewart. Growing up a military child, her family moved from state to state. While they lived in Missouri, Janet enrolled in Southwest Missouri State College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in World History and French. Janet loved the knowledge that she gained from the many books that she was able to read through-out her life. Her love affair for books landed her the perfect career for over thirty years with the Houston County Public Library in Perry, where she was the Cataloger. She was a member of Grace Church, where she volunteered for various children’s ministries, including one of her favorites, Operation Christmas Child. Janet cherished being grandmother to her precious, Hannah Grace. In her free time, Janet loved gardening and tending to her flowers. Janet will forever be missed by her children and many friends. Along with her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Larry L. Sayre.
Left to cherish the memories that they shared with Janet are her children, Dawn Sayre, Todd Sayre, both of Perry; her grand-daughter, Hannah-Grace Sayre; and special friends that have been family, Moe and Sue Drennan of Perry.
Condolences for the family may be left in our online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
