Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Perry United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Tom Carruth and Reverend Tommy Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the service. Upon completion of the visitation, interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry United Methodist Church, 1002 Carroll Street, Perry, GA 31069, or Alzheimer’s Association, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Jane was born on October 30, 1941, to the late James and Gladys Garrett Pearson in Peach County where she was raised. Having grown up on a peach farm, she worked for her family’s business, 4J Farms, at “the packing shed” as a rite of passage. After graduating from Fort Valley High School in 1959, she attended Emory University. In 1964, she moved to Perry, returning to middle Georgia and returning to 4J Farms where she became the Comptroller/Bookkeeper. Jane was so proud of her heritage in Peach County where they grew peaches and pecans and learned the true meaning of what it meant to be a Southern Belle, which she was thought to be by everyone she encountered. She enjoyed vacationing in Ormond Beach, Florida, with the Pearson family at the end of peach season each year, a tradition that still continues. Jane was truly a homemaker all of her life, continuously striving to provide an encouraging, supportive, and welcoming home in which to raise her children. Through the years, she enjoyed cooking and became an excellent cook and hostess, known for her homemade peach ice cream and the many brunches, luncheons, receptions, and holiday parties she hosted. She enjoyed playing Bridge, loved to dance, was a charter member of the Beltista Club of Perry, a ladies’ service organization, and was a member of Perry United Methodist Church. Her inner creativity was released as she became an artist who enjoyed painting on canvas and other crafts. With a stunning smile, a great sense of humor, and a servant’s heart, Jane was a beautiful lady, inside and out, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jimmy Pearson.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Jane are her faithful and loving husband of twenty-one years, Skeet Hulbert of Perry; her daughter, Beth Beckham Henderson (Bill) of Macon; her son, Ed Beckham, III (Tamatha) of Perry; her bonus children, Jodi Hulbert Zammit (Edmund), Paul Hulbert (Lisa), John Hulbert (Ashley), Ben Hulbert (Samantha), Matthew Hulbert (Jennifer), Mark Hulbert (Emily), and Jill Hulbert Thigpen (Eric); her grandchildren, Molly Morgan Jones, Maimee Jane Henderson, Beck Beckham, and Brant Beckham; twenty-three Hulbert grandchildren; her brothers, Joe Pearson (Connie) of Fort Valley, and John Pearson (Debbie) of Perry; her sister-in-law, Mary Kirksey Pearson of Texas; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her attentive and devoted caregivers, Shennando Lester, Kenyata Lester, and Tanisha Byse Hinton.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff and management of Summerhill for the kindness, professionalism, and loving care they have shown to Jane over the past eleven years.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
