JANE PRESTON HENDERSON's Obituary
MACON- Jane Preston Henderson, 82, died on March 13, 2024 following a brief illness with her daughter holding her hand at her bedside. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Watson Hunt Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia. Interment will follow on Monday, March 18th at 10:00 am at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Jane was the daughter of the late Omye Johnson Preston and Daniel B. Preston. She was born on December 2, 1941, in Columbus, Georgia. She graduated from Harris County High School in Cataula, Georgia, and attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia. She had resided in Perry, Georgia since 1972 and was a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church. As a devoted employee of Dr. Thomas Pierce, she worked for several decades until her retirement at the age of 70. She also worked for 20 years on the weekends in the activities department at Summerhill. She brought joy to others through her cooking, baking, cake decorating, arts and crafts, and her love of all things Christmas! Her greatest love was taking care of others and her grandchildren. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time in Saint Simons Island.
She is preceded in death by her first husband of forty-five years, Reuben “Hap” Henderson, second husband, Gerald “Jerry” Stone of eleven years, her brother Daniel Preston, both parents and numerous beloved animals. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Al Herron, Macon; grandchildren, Kendall Herron and Karsten Herron, Birmingham, Alabama; niece, Debbie Coulter, Phenix City, Alabama and many beloved life-long friends.
