James Douglas Yates Sr's Obituary
James Douglas Yates Sr., age 63, a native of Purvis, MS and a longtime resident of Theodore, AL passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was actively involved in helping his community and any person he saw in need. He was much loved by friends and family for his generousity and quick wit. He had love and a nonjudgemental understanding and acceptance for all that he met and knew. He spent many of his remaining years sharing his new found love “Jesus”. We all know today he is sitting with “God” sharing all of his life experiences. He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Bessie Yates, son, Joey Yates, brother, Ben Yates. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Yates, children, James Yates Jr., Keith Fondren, Angelia (John) Taylor, siblings, Elbert (Cindy) Yates, John (Mary) Yates, Thomas (Patricia) Yates, Lyma (Elwin) Pinney, Margaret (Tommy) Plylar, Pauline Graves, devoted mother-in-law, Fern Weaver, 8 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2 pm with visitation starting at 12 noon until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
