James 'Jim' Thomas McMann's Obituary
JAMES THOMAS McMANN Jr. Elko, Georgia, 68 years of age and born on January 26, 1949 went to meet our heavenly father on November 12, 2017. Jim is survived by his loving wife Sandy, of 47 years sons; James T. McMann III and wife Tomra, Christopher John McMann and wife Tara, Brian William McMann and wife Missy, Kevin Michael McMann, and daughter, Stephanie Marie McMann Cross and husband Jason, sister; Patricia McMann Galassini and husband Jack of Wetumpka, Alabama, a brother; Michael McMann of Margate, Florida and treasured grandchildren; Kayla, Kyle, Jimmy, Thomas, Hailey, Morgan, Ashton, Breanna, Bryson, Alyssa, Preston, Trinity, Gage, Kylie, McKinsey, Aubree, Morgan, Kadence and Colton, many nieces and nephews to include; Kimberly, Michael , Gina, Jennifer, John and their children, his cherished mother in law Laurie Sands, six sister- in- laws and four brother- in- laws located in Florida, and many loving friends. James, fondly known as “Jim” or “Big Pops”, was born in Hollywood, Florida to his late parents; James Thomas McMann and Mary Jeanne Hansen. Jim is predeceased by his grandparents; Agnes Graney Hansen, Sven Godfrey Hansen, Joseph McMann and Bridgid Duane McMann and sister Mary Ellen McMann Durham. Jim grew up in Davie, Florida and attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School. After graduating high school, Jim joined the Davie Police Department as a Police Officer. Soon after, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Radio Operator. After his Navy career, Jim obtained an Associate of Business degree. Jim became a successful parts manager for Whirlpool in New Orleans, Louisiana. After retiring from Whirlpool, Jim, Sandy and children relocated to Clayton, Georgia where Jim managed a local hotel establishment for over twenty years. Jim and Sandy have been residents of Elko, Georgia for the past ten years. Two of Jim and Sandy’s sons are veterans and they served in the United States Marine Corps. Christopher is currently serving in the United States Navy and is soon to retire after a 20 year career. Jim, a devoted husband, father and brother will be deeply missed. He will be laid to rest during a military funeral on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Andersonville National Cemetery located at 496 Cemetery Rd., Andersonville, Georgia 31711. Graveside services will begin promptly at 12 Noon. The family asks in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.
