JAMES FLOYD "DOC" HOLLIDAY's Obituary
HAYNESVILLE –
James Floyd “Doc” Holliday, 90, passed away just after midnight on April 1, 2024. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Winfred Huff and John “Tubby” Fowler officiating. Interment will be in the cemetery at First Baptist Church of Haynesville immediately following the service. Rev. Travis Graham will be officiating at the graveside.
James was born on November 19, 1933, and was raised in Clearco, West Virginia. He moved with his family to Jacksonville, Florida, after high school. James proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force just after World War II was over. He drove a semi-truck for Central Truck Lines and retired after over twenty years of service with them. Doc enjoyed assembling model trucks and watching television, often NASCAR races, during his retirement.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Zelda Hanson Holliday; his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Helen Altman Holliday; and two sons, Darryl Smith and Russell Smith.
Survivors include his children, Brenda West (Bruce) of Kathleen, Lynn Hickman of MacClenny, Florida, and Jim Holliday of Lecanto, Florida; his daughter-in-law, Gloria Smith of Warner Robins; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to everyone at The Summerhill Rehab and The Church Home for the Aged Nursing Home/Rehab for their loving care and kindness shown to Doc during his time with each of them.
