Age 96, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family. “Paw Paw” affectionally known to all loved life and lived it to the fullest. His love for his family was shown in many ways. He loved fishing, hunting and was the best cook in town! His life is best defined through Psalms 128.Psalm 128 - Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. May you live to see your children’s children— peace be on Israel.He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Kathryn Carpenter, children, Sandra Beard, James Carpenter Jr., Chris Price, Cynthia (John) Lassiter, Martha (Steve) Burt and Keith (Olivier) Carpenter, grandchildren, Alan (Annette), Randy, Pam, Darryl, Donnie, Michael, Stephen, Nicole (John), Tommy (Blakely), Jennifer (Eric), Holley (Josh), Erica (Michael), Jessica (Robert) and Jordan, 31 great grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, his precious neighbors, Carlene and Perry, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2 pm with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
