Ida Goodroe's Obituary
Ida Josephine Hansen Goodroe, age 96, born December 23, 1918 in Bayonne, New Jersey passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was a long time resident of Grand Bay, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma Hansen, her brother, Julie Hansen and her husband of 35 years, Homer Law Goodroe. She leaves behind three daughters, Julie Harper (Taylor) of Grand Bay, Victoria Withers (William) of Theodore, AL and Elaine Bunch (Tom) of Alabaster, AL; five grandchildren, Leigh-Taylor Harper, Scott Harper, Joseph Withers, Austin Bunch and Camille Bunch; three great grandchildren, Jackson Harper, Jacob Harper and Ava Withers. She was a registered nurse and served in the United States Navy during WWII. She was a volunteer at USA Medical Center and a board member of the Mostellar Medical Center. She faced everyday with a smile and her beloved crossword puzzles. Visitation is Saturday, August 1 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Serenity Funeral Home with service following at 12:00 pm. Internment will be in Grand Bay Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army, Wounded Warriors or Grand Bay Library.
