HORACE EUGENE "HEW" WEEMS, III's Obituary
PERRY –
Horace Eugene “Hew” Weems, III, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Hew was born on August 14, 1950, in Macon to the late Dr. Horace and Scottie Weems. A 1969 graduate of Perry High School, he proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for over seventeen years. While enlisted, he worked as a Psychiatric Technician and lived in Texas, Germany, and Maryland, moving his family with him to each location. After his retirement from the Air Force, Hew worked at Napa Auto Parts in Maryland for ten years. In 2003, Hew returned to Perry where he would live out his life. He soon began working for Wal-Mart as a stocker and eventually transferred to the maintenance department. After nearly eighteen years, he retired after his health would no longer allow him to work outside the home. Throughout his life, Hew loved anything and everything about American History. It was his goal to share with his children as much about America as he could. He would take the girls on day trips and local tours, actually “adventures,” visiting famous locations and enjoying family time together. Hew was a tremendous fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Braves, but his greatest passion in life was his family – his daughters and grandchildren. He was a loving father who will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Hew was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gale Weems Bryant.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Hew are his daughters, Melissa Ruth Weems of Perry, Margaret Ann “Maggie” Weems Fowler (Billy) of Maryland, and Lorriane Weems Betrosoff (Sean) of Smyrna; his grandchildren, Tabitha Fowler, Gabriel Fowler, and Abigail Fowler; his nephew, Win Watkins; his niece, Brandi Judd; and the mother of his children, Debra “Debi” Weems.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
