Homer S Bloodworth's Obituary
Homer Samuel Bloodworth passed away peacefully at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry on Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was born on March 9,1920 in Telfair County GA, the son of the late James and Gladis Bloodworth. He was a member of Perry United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty; son, Joseph; brother, Raymond; and sisters, Cornelia, Martha Lue, and Lois.
Mr. Bloodworth had a distinguished 20 year career in the U.S. Navy. He was a WWII veteran serving most of his wartime duty in the North Atlantic on an oil replenishment vessel. Soon after the war, he went to Navy Dive School and attained the Navy Certification of Master Diver. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Bloodworth moved his family to Perry when he accepted a job as a Civil Servant at Robins AFB. Mr. Bloodworth was an avid outdoorsman and after he retired from Robins AFB in 1982, he was able to pursue his hobbies of hunting, fishing and gardening full time.
Mr. Bloodworth will be dearly missed by friends and family. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Norma) of Perry; daughter, Susan Forchette(Michael) of Perry; 3 grandchildren, Faith, Reba and Tryston; brother, James; and sisters, Margie Nell, Maggie Sue, and Jeannette.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 2 PM at the chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home, with burial and Military Honors following at Perry Memorial Gardens.
