A native of Marshallville, Georgia, Mrs. Murdock attended the Westfield School in Perry, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Mrs. Murdock went on to attend the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Mrs. Murdock’s nursing career spanned over 20 years in the neuro-intensive care field. Additionally, Mrs. Murdock earned her certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic and served as a Flight Nurse, participating in world-wide aero-medical evacuations and transport of critically ill or wounded patients. A servant leader, she took great pride in her role as a nurse preceptor, sharing her vast knowledge of critical care nursing with new nurses and nursing students. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2000, Mrs. Murdock continued to work in challenging health career environments for many years after.
Mrs. Murdock faced her lengthy cancer battle with dignity, grace, and courage, believing that her own experience and example might give hope and encouragement to others facing such a devastating diagnosis.
