Life Legacy
PERRY-Hilda Mealor Wood, 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, after a brave, brief battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens, cryptside at Freedom Mausoleum. The family will briefly visit with friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Crossroads United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1600 Main Street, Perry, GA 31069.Hilda was born in Talmo, Georgia, to the late Clarence T. and Millie Garrison Mealor. She went to Business College and became a bookkeeper. Hilda worked at Wilheight Pharmacy in the Atlanta area and eventually managed 3 of their family pharmacies. She worked for Bibb Manufacturing for a few years, then ended her business career with 17 years at Hammock Machine Company. Hilda was a long-time member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. She loved to go shopping, especially with her sweet husband as her personal driver, taking her wherever she wanted to go. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Mealor, as well as her parents.Left to cherish the memories of Hilda are her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Tommy C. Wood of Perry; her children, Tommy Wood, Jr. (Kathy) of Perry, Mike Wood of Augusta, and Wendy Roberts of Muscogee, Oklahoma; her sisters, Wilda Cooper (Buck) of Lawrenceville, and Rita LeJeune (Nick) of Loganville; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Ola Horton Wood of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
