Harvey Keith Garrett's Obituary
KATHLEEN-
Harvey Keith Garrett, 52, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015, after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Perry United Methodist Church. A Private Interment will be in Oglethorpe City Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., the hour preceding the service, in the Fellowship Hall at Perry United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Keith was born in Milledgeville to the late Julian Ray and Christine Sanders Garrett. A 1980 graduate of Baldwin County High School, he earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree, both in Business Administration, from Georgia College. He moved to Houston County and began working in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a Procurement Analyst for the U. S. Department of Defense. Keith's first day on the job, he met the love of his life, Cathy Trask, and they eventually married. It's no surprise to anyone who knew him why she fell in love with him. Keith was truly a Southern Gentleman, a "man among men". His quick wit, great sense of humor, and total respect for others made him stand out. He was wonderful and loving husband. Keith loved travelling with his wife, and they truly enjoyed the various trips stateside and internationally to parts of Europe and Asia, particularly their adventure in Africa. He came to appreciate big cities, full of diverse people and the architecture of the buildings within each one he vacationed. Keith savored the distinct flavors he sampled at the vast array of unique and unusual restaurants at which they dined through the years. In his own home with his distinct sense of style, Keith enjoyed entertaining his family and friends on a regular basis. He also enjoyed working part-time at Jesup Furniture in Perry. A man of deep faith, he was a member of Perry United Methodist Church. By example, he taught his wife how to care for him during this last year of his life when he graciously cared for her during an extended battle to recover from injuries sustained in a car accident years ago. Keith was predeceased by his brother, Mike Garrett; his father-in-law, John A. Trask; his brother-in-law, John A. Trask, Jr.; and his dear dog, Weezie.
Left to cherish the memories of Keith are his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Cathy Trask Garrett of Kathleen; his beloved dog, Lola; his mother-in-law, Sarah Trask of Oglethorpe; his brother-in-law, Jim Trask (Patricia) of Montezuma; his sister-in-law, Patty Trask of Carlsbad, California; 3 nieces; 1 nephew; several great-nieces and great-nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of close friends with whom he treasured friendships.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
