Hartance was born on January 2, 1935, in Leakesville, Mississippi, to the late Henry and Myrtle Lundy. She grew up near Mobile, and after high school, she worked as a Clerk/Typist with Civil Service. In 1966, Hartance moved to Perry where she worked as a Secretary at Kellwood Company, a textile manufacturer. After some time, she bought The Tastee Freeze and enjoyed every day of owning an ice cream business. She spent most days visiting with kids of all ages who stopped in for cold treats – travelers and locals, alike. Hartance was a long-time, active member of Cross Point Baptist Church.
Hartance was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and devoted husband of forty-eight years, Henry Hearn; her sisters, Willie C. Trenecosta, Marcella Fleming, and Myrtle Bell Lundy; and her brother, Curtis Lundy.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Hartance are her children, Brenda Logan of Hawkinsville, Michael and Debbie Hearn of Fort Valley, Pamela Davis of Perry, and Bruce and Darlene Hearn of Byron; her grandchildren, Jessica and Ben Deese, Hugh Logan, Matt and Blenda Logan, Allen and Ashley Davis, Kim and Brooks James, Tommy Davis, and Chelsey Fee; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
