GROVER "LARRY" WALTON's Obituary
PERRY –
Grover Larry Walton, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2024, at his home. Private Graveside Services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at Larry’s home on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. to celebrate his life and share special memories of Larry. Flowers will be graciously accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to The Kidney Foundation, 830 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 510, Box 405, Atlanta, GA 30316.
Larry, a lifelong resident of Houston County, was born on July 7, 1949, in Roberta to the late Grover and Doris Harris Walton. He began working at Penn Dixie cement company at a young age gaining “on the job training” through the years. He continued working there and witnessed the changes associated each time the business sold to new owners, becoming Medusa, South Down, and Cemex. Larry retired after over thirty-seven years as an Industrial Electrician.
An avid fisherman his whole life, Larry enjoyed hunting for many years, in fact earning the nickname “Bo,” since he was such an excellent bow hunter. Gardening and growing vegetables took a good portion of most summers, so Larry could give his friends and family the fruits of his labor. He had a great sense of humor and could tell the most ridiculous stories with the straightest face, making everyone in earshot laugh out loud. Larry was very fortunate to receive a kidney transplant from one of his closest friends who was a match. He was forever grateful and always felt the blessing of that gift that extended his life for over ten years. Larry was a member of Cross Point Baptist Church.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jack Walton and Jimmy Earl Walton; and his sister, Dorothy Walton Lee.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Larry are his loving and devoted daughter, Angela “Angel” Lawrence of Griffin; his bonus daughter, Francy Crisp (Nickolas); his grandson, River Lawrence; his bonus grandchildren, Nevaeha Irwin and Levi Crisp; his former wife/primary caregiver, Brenda Walton of Perry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
