Gloria Champion Shipes' Obituary
HAYNESVILLE-
Gloria Champion Shipes, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2013. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Watson-Hunt Funeral Home, P. O. Box 52, Perry, GA 31069.
Gloria was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville. She worked for 10 years for the Houston County Board of Education as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional at Perry Primary School. Always happy and cheerful, Gloria enjoyed cooking, spending time outside, gardening, and fishing. The greatest joy in her life was her family, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Donnie Shipes; her mother, Mae Champion; her parents, James and Ada Champion; and a sister, Dolly Sloan.
Left to cherish the memories of Gloria are her daughter, Ella Shipes of Haynesville; her son, Jamie Shipes (Brandi) of Haynesville; her sister, Lenora Rickerson (Billy) of Hawkinsville; and her brother, Tommy Sloan (Linda) of Hawkinsville; her granddaughter who affectionately referred to her as "GiGi", Rylee Platt; and several nieces and nephews.
