Life Legacy
HAWKINSVILLE-Gertrude Edenfield Tallent, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Funeral Services will be on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Haynesville Church of God, 311 Pitts Road, Hawkinsville, GA 31069.Mrs. Tallent was born in Metter, GA, to the late Madison and Zebbie Rouis Edenfield. Throughout her life, she was a hard-working lady, offering the finest example of work ethic and responsibillity to her children and grandchildren. The Tallents had a home in Hawkinsville and a home in Zellwood, Florida, between which they divided their time to visit with family and friends. She and her husband owned several businesses through the years, including a trucking company and a real estate company. But the business she found herself involved with most was farming produce. The Tallents had a produce stand in central Florida and enjoyed harvesting and offering their finest crops to friends and travelers in their area of Florida. In her spare time, she always loved to go fishing. After the loss of her husband in 2004, Mrs. Tallent returned to Hawkinsville permanently. She was a former member of Hawkinsville Church of God and had attended Haynesville Church of God for many years. She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters; her 4 brothers; and her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Glenn Harvey Tallent.Left to cherish the memories of their "Ma" are her loving children, Ronnie Tallent (Sandi) of Lake Park, GA, and Joyce Tallent VanLent of Hawkinsville; her grandchildren who adoringly referred to her as "Nanny", Jamie Tallent Tusing (Chris), Casey Tallent, Jesse Tallent, Timmy Tallent, Crystal Tallent, and Veronica Young; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
