Gerald Gordon Partain's Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” Gordon Partain, age 71, of Daphne, AL died Friday, March 28, 2014. He was born on December 1, 1942 in Athens, TN, the son of Anna Lou Perkinson and C. L. Partain. On June 2, 1974 he was married to Ruth Anne Erickson. He was preceded in death by his parents: Anna Lou Gamble, John Gamble and C. L. Partain, his older brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Jack Partain, father-in-law Rueben Erickson and son-in-law Robert “Bobby” A. McLaughlin. Jerry was a United States Navy veteran serving as an electrician on USS Kearsarge during the Vietnam War. He was a Master Mason and a member of the American Legion. He worked many years as a construction electrician, offshore electrician and a commercial truck driver. He was a loving, compassionate and protective husband, father and grandfather. He loved music, NASCAR racing, the Tennessee Volunteers and Alabama Crimson Tide Football. He was a long time member of Ascension Lutheran Church and was active as his health allowed. He was devoted to his family and nothing made him happier than when all his family was together. Jerry is survived by his wife, Ruth Anne Partain of Daphne, AL; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lori McLaughlin of Saraland; Dawn and Tripp Canada of Mobile; Shawn and Shane Sepulvado of Bossier City, LA and one brother, William “Bill” Partain and wife, Shirley of Calhoun, GA; five grandchildren, Jerry McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, Dane Sepulvado, Parker Canada and Tanner Sepulvado; three great-grandchildren, James Jr, Autumn and Brookelynn McLaughlin, mother-in-law Rosella Erickson of Lakefield, MN and many nieces and nephews. Acting pallbearers are Richard Erickson, Tripp Canada, Shane Sepulvado, Jerry McLaughlin, James McLaughlin and Dane Sepulvado. A special thank you to all the “rock stars” in the SICU department at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL for the love and care they provided to our loving husband and father during his time there.Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 12:00 PM, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Daphne, AL with the service to follow at 1:00 PM. Graveside service at 2:30 PM, at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL. In lieu of flowers, you may give to the American Lung Association or Ascension Lutheran Church, Daphne, AL.
