Gerald R. Parish's Obituary
Gerald R. Parish, 57, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, after a brief illness. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Care, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069.
Mr. Parish was born in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Earl Rex Parish and Helen Sutfin Parish Parke. He moved to Perry from Ocala, Florida, three years ago and began working as a mechanic at Hamby Automotive. Mr. Parish was an avid fisherman and all around outdoorsman. He was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who affectionately referred to his as "Grandpa". A kind and gentle man, he will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish the memories of Gerald are his loving wife of 39 years, Cathy H. Parish of Perry; his children, Valaire Whitaker of Bartow, Florida, Holly Parish of Augusta, and Gerald R. "Butch" Parish, Jr. of Perry; his grandchildren, Charles Weaver, Shana Wiker, Erika Wright, Andrew Wright, and Alyson Wright; his siblings, Earlene Burkes of Marshallville, Victor Parish (Teresa) of Ocala, Florida, Gwendolyn Kelley of Cottonwood, Arizona, Rex Parish of Perry, and Elden Parish (Mary) of Lafayette, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
