GAYNOR LEIGH HOLMBY's Obituary
PERRY –
Gaynor Leigh Gray Holmby, 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022, after a brief illness. At her request, her family will celebrate her life and the memories they made in a private gathering at one of her favorite places, Jekyll Island. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to FOPAS, Friends of Perry Animal Shelter, 204 Kellwood Drive, Perry, GA 31069.
Gaynor was born in Griffin to the late Albert Russell Gray and the late Irma Jane Ballard Gray. Upon graduation from Griffin High School, she earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from Mercer University. For over twenty years, Gaynor spent school days nurturing and educating young children, laying the foundation for and preparing them for upper-level education, which she enjoyed tremendously. She spent much of her free time learning the crafts of cross-stitching and making mesh wreaths, both of which she became quite talented and loved to do through the years. Her greatest joy, though, was found in all of the times she was with her family and extended family, gathering during the holidays and celebrating special occasions.
Gaynor was predeceased by her parents; a sister-in-law, Jan Cole, and her husband, Gary Cole; and another brother-in-law, Bob Gereke.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Gaynor are her loving and devoted husband of nine years, Kevin G. Holmby of Perry; her children, Nick Holmby of Denver, Colorado, and her two rescue dogs, Jasper and Ellie Mae; her brother, Chuck Gray of Green Bay, Wisconsin; her sisters-in-law, Pat Wheeler (John) of Brighton, Colorado, and Nancy Fix (Monty) of Carterville, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
