Gary Ray Pilarski's Obituary
BONAIRE- Gary Ray Pilarski, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 27, 2018. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Gary was born in Gadsden, Alabama. Soon after high school graduation, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Crew Chief on the F-111, the F-15, then the C-130, and served two tours in combat, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. With the military, he was fortunate to travel and live in various locations throughout the United States and England. He moved to Warner Robins in 1989 and eventually moved out to Bonaire. After he was honorably released from active duty, Gary began his work with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a mechanic, then later a functional tester, and finally a scheduler – all on the C-130, where he spent 24 years before his retirement, just two weeks ago. Through the years, Gary enjoyed watching his sons, Adam and Aaron, play baseball and football, watching his grandchildren, Brianna and Cadince, play softball, and supporting his favorite Auburn Tigers each time they played football. He spent lots of time outdoors playing golf and riding motorcycles. Gary was always keeping up with the latest technology advancements and was happy to test the various newly-released gadgets he could get his hands on. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Pilarski; and his son, Aaron Pilarski. Left to cherish the memories they made with Gary are his son, Adam Pilarski (Candice) and his daughter, Rachel Carter, both of Bonaire; his grandchildren, Brianna, Cadince, Aaron, and Camille Pilarski, and William and Shawn Carter, all of Bonaire; his mother, Earline McGinnis; his siblings, Darlene Smith (Tim), Martin Pilarski, Cicely Blair (Matt), and Christine Pilarski; his brother-in-law, Charles Feely; and several nieces and nephews. Condolences for the family may be left for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
