Frederick Daniel Williams Jr.'s Obituary
WILLIAMS JR., Frederick Daniel, age 72, passed away peacefully in his home this past Tuesday, April 12, 2016. “Danny” was preceded in death by his father Frederick “Buddy” Daniel Williams Sr. (1990) and his mother Theresa Cain Williams (2012). He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Garry M. Williams (Phyllis) and three sisters Mary Elizabeth Brown (Jimmy), Wanda Drop (Joe), Patricia Ann Esfeller, his five sons Todd Williams, Daniel Williams III (Sandra), Monty Dames (Fernanda), Luke Dames, Derek Williams (Christi) and his 13 grandchildren. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, was raised and schooled in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. He started his work career working onboard his father’s shrimp boat, the “Beverly W” and later the “Miss Theresa”. After his commercial fishing years he ventured into the offshore supply business where he started his career at Zapata. He gained vast experience after managing the company’s vessels in West Africa and Latin America. In the 60’s he was appointed Managing Director for Zapata in Brazil where he remained for the majority of his professional career. In the early 70’s, when offshore drilling was booming in Brazil, Danny resigned from Zapata and founded pioneering offshore support companies, Apex Marine and Seamar, introducing vessels with technology ahead of their times which eventually set the bar for the growing offshore shipping industry in Brazil. After retiring from the offshore service industry in the mid 90’s, Danny returned to his home in Bayou La Batre where he reconnected to his roots. Service will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow mass at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Pallbearers are his 5 sons and grandsons Alex Williams, Nickolas Williams, Kevin Williams, Luke Dames Jr. and Kevin Dames. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Williams and Daniel Dames. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Danny’s honor may be made to St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
