Mr. Wehunt was a paperboy at heart. He worked for decades in many facets within the newspaper industry, spending most of his time managing circulation, but also managing the print room, distribution, and single copy. Mr. Wehunt loved his three grandchildren. After his retirement from the Post & Courier in Charleston, SC, he loved keeping the scorebooks for his grandson’s baseball games, where his grandson’s teammates affectionately called him “Grandpa.”
Mr. Wehunt was preceded in death by his parents, Freddy Powell Wehunt, Sr. and Vivian Marie Pardue.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mr. Wehunt are his loving and devoted wife of forty-six years, Martha L. Wehunt of Hanahan, SC; one daughter, Shannon Bassett (Andrew) of Hanahan, SC; three grandchildren, Liam Bassett, Gabriel Bassett, and Leighton Bassett; two sisters, Chris Vance (Craig) of Atlanta, GA, and Susan Crozier of Augusta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
