FRANK BORAH's Obituary
BYRON –
Bernard Frank Borah passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, after an extended illness. He was 78. Private Graveside Services will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley. Friends may drop by to view on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. A Memorial Service for family and friends to gather together and celebrate Frank’s life will be held at a later date. Details of that service with military honors will be announced as soon as they are available. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 27, 1947, to the late Barbanelle and Katherine Brooks Borah. The son of a career military father, he moved around early in life. After his family settled in North Macon, Frank graduated from Jones County High School in 1965. He continued his education at the University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. Frank began his career in the manufacturing industry at Keebler Company, then worked at Pabst Brewing Company/G. Heileman Brewing Company where he met many close friends and the love of his life, Gayle Kersey, before embarking on the final journey of his successful career as a Quality Engineer with Anchor Glass, from where he retired after over twenty years of service. A lifetime fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Frank was a season ticket holder to UGA football since 1987, faithfully attending until his health would no longer allow it, which was only during the 2024 season. He was a DGD, and thoroughly enjoyed celebrating (and commiserating, when necessary) with his Dawg buddies each week.
Frank was a long-time member of Perry Methodist Church where he was also a member of the Christadelphian Sunday School Class. Through the years, his passions were obvious – his family, the Bulldogs, FOX News, and Christmas decorations. The time and effort spent each year to transform their home into a holiday wonderland, a “mini-Calloway-Gardens,” if you will, complete with hundreds of thousands of lights, animated inflatables, and Christmas music for kids of all ages. His favorite event each year was the annual family Christmas party. Inside their home, Frank would spend months building Christmas villages and decorating over twenty Christmas trees all over the house for guests to enjoy. It was his talent as a meticulous electrician and his engineer-minded organizational skills that made him the perfect leader for this yearly project at the BORAH home.
Frank loved traveling with family and friends. Moreover, he delighted in photography, capturing the memories of the places they had visited. He had a real “eye” for framing the beautiful journeys and everything encountered along the way, from sunrises, to landscape and flowers, to insects and animals, to sunsets. Frank enjoyed sharing the photographs and telling the stories of each and every frame. As Frank added some years to his life and he moved at a slower pace, he enjoyed watching Hallmark movies. In retrospect, maybe he was getting tips and hints for the year’s holiday decorations in each and every Hallmark movie he savored.
A wonderful husband and father, Frank was a true Southern Gentleman and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him, admired him, and loved him.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bruce Borah; and a devoted friend, Pat Canion.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Frank are his loving and devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Gayle Kersey Borah; his son, Brandon Borah; his daughter, Kelli Sikes (Jason); his devoted friend who has been by his side, helping him for over thirty-five years, Clifford Turner; his siblings, Barbara Affourtit, Kathy Swann (David), Bambi Cantello (Robert), and Ken Borah (Nancy); two grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his beloved cats, Speedy and Oreo.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
