FRANCES ETHRIDGE LAW's Obituary
PERRY –
Frances Elizabeth Ethridge Law, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Services will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Perry Presbyterian Church with the Visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the Funeral starting at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Parker Agnew and Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry Presbyterian Church, 1111 S. Second Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Frances was born in Byron, GA, to the late David Ethridge, Sr. and the late Lizzie Wainwright Ethridge. After high school, World War II was nearing an end, and she worked on an assembly line at Fuse Plant in Macon where ammunition was made. Ironically, the day the war was officially ended, the plant closed. Frances met and married the love of her life, Roy Law, and she became a wonderful homemaker, which she did for the rest of her life. She enjoyed creating a loving and encouraging environment in which to raise “her boys.” She loved keeping her grandchildren while their parents worked, especially when they got old enough to help maintain her yard and garden. Through the years, Frances spent a great deal of time in her vegetable garden, nurturing and harvesting peas, butterbeans, and corn, among other things. With harvesting also came canning that Frances did year after year in the various seasons. She was always ready to cook the greatest southern meal, with fried chicken and homemade biscuits being her specialties. It was her greatest joy in life to be with her family. They all loved “Granny” or “Grandma” immensely, and she loved them - just that much - right back. Mrs. Frances was the oldest member of Perry Presbyterian Church, where she had been very active, a member for over sixty years, and a member of the Mary Hunt Sunday School Class. A gracious, southern lady, she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Frances are "her boys,” Jimmy Law (Sara) of Haynesville, Bobby Law (Deborah) of Elko, and Winfred Law (Helen) of Perry; four grandchildren; three bonus grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight bonus great-grandchildren; one bonus great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Mrs. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of forty-three years, James Roy Law, Sr.; her brother, Daniel F. “Junior” Ethridge; and a granddaughter, Melissa Law.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
