Frances Campbell's Obituary
Frances Christine (Deakle) Campbell, 83, left this earth on May 14, 2016, in Mobile, Alabama. She was born on December 25, 1932, to the late Jackson Zebulon and Ella Mae (Brewer) Deakle in Grand Bay, Alabama. Frances was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Burks Campbell, Sr., and is survived by her children Frances Diane (Campbell) Luther and husband Mark, Thomas B. Campbell, Jr., and wife Mary Sue, J. Anthony Campbell, and B. Doyle Campbell and wife Chandley; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings Emmett “Bud” Deakle and wife Nellie Grace, and Carl Deakle and wife Nancy; sisters-in-law Inez Deakle, Martha Deakle, and Becky Deakle. Frances was a generous person who enjoyed the love and friendship of many. Known for her resilience and courage in times of adversity, Frances retained her sense of humor until the end and delighted in having fun and making others laugh. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her kindness, her love of life, family and friends, and the many lessons she taught us. Her passions were music, games, cooking, shopping and crocheting. Tom and Frances moved to Grand Bay after retirement. There they enjoyed returning to their roots, living near family members and old friends, attending her childhood church, hosting game nights and fish fries, and gardening. After Tom passed in 2006, Frances lived for nine years at University Oaks Retirement Center where she participated in the many social activities. Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Church (5251 Grand Bay Wilmer Road Grand Bay, AL) on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. until service time at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Union Baptist Church.
