Florence Drummond Trigg's Obituary
PERRY, GA-
Florence Drummond Trigg, formerly of Grovetown, GA, and Baytown, TX, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Perry at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Grove Baptist Church in Grovetown, GA.
Born in Grovetown, GA, on January 19,1926, to the late Nellie Banks and William Edgar Drummond, Sr., Mrs. Trigg graduated from Harlem High School in Harlem, Ga. She supported the war effort as an arsenal employee in the Augusta, GA area. She met that "tall, handsome, blue-eyed blonde" GI when her father brought him home for Sunday dinner, as was Mr. Drummond's custom in caring for the soldiers training at (then) Camp Gordon, GA. Florence Drummond married that handsome soldier, EB Trigg, on July 4, 1943, saw him off with his fellow soldiers as they journeyed to England for the Normandy Invasion, and welcomed him home when the war was over. They were married for 59 years when Mr. Trigg died in 2003.
While living in Grovetown, GA, Baytown, TX, Macon, GA, and finally, Perry, GA, she was always supportive of her family's adventures, working to meet their needs and encourage their aspirations. When moving to a new home, Mrs. Trigg quickly found a home for her family at a nearby beloved Baptist church, where the family became involved in the life of the church.
Survivors include her brother, John R. Drummond, Sr, Grovetown, GA; her son, William H. Trigg, and his special love, Elizabeth Wilson of Forsyth, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Annelle Trigg Johnson and E.B. Johnson, III of McLean, VA; her grandchildren, Benjamin Trent Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC, and Ellen Banks Johnson of McLean, VA. She is also survived by her nephew John R. Drummond, Jr., of Augusta, GA, her niece Toni Drummond-Atwood (Dan) of Medford, OR, and her niece Gayle Williams (Bobby) of Nashville, TN.
The family especially wishes to recognize the devoted care and companionship of her caregivers, Ann Collier and Alberta Sneed. Grateful thanks, also, to Dr. Gary Myrthil and Dr. Gerald Brantley for their professional and empathetic care given to Mrs. Trigg during her illnesses. The Willing Workers Sunday School Class will be remembered for their thoughtful cards, telephone calls, personal visits, and gifts of seasonal fruit and flowers.
Flowers are appreciated, as are donations to the donor's favorite charity. Condolences may be left for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
