EZELL SAMMONS "ZELL" GOOLSBY III's Obituary
PERRY –
Ezell Sammons “Zell” Goolsby III, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, after a brief illness. Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Veteran’s charity of the donor’s choice.
Zell was born in Macon to the late Sammons and Mary Kientz Goolsby. He grew up in Monticello where he graduated from Monticello High School and was active in the catholic church. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee while stationed in Diego, Garcia, Guam. Zell moved to Augusta where he has lived for the past eighteen years working for various contractors as a Master Electrician. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in August.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. Zell loved being with his family, spending time on the family farm in Monticello that was such a special place to him. Zell enjoyed cooking and especially grilling. The example his own father gave him of gathering the family and the men cooking for everyone began a tradition that continues today with his brother and his son. He moved to Perry just six months ago to live near his son.
Zell was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister-in-law, Jan Goolsby.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Zell are his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Patricia Goolsby of Kathleen; his grandchildren, Cameron Goolsby, Carter Goolsby, and Ava Goolsby; his siblings, Mary Ramsdale (Dan) of Jacksonville, Florida, Raymond Goolsby of Monticello, and Sissy Fox of Charleston, South Carolina; and two nephews, one niece, and their families.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
