ELKO –
Evon Culpepper Wiley, 71, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022, in Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after a brief illness. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Houston Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Fred McCoy officiating.
A resident of Elko most of her life, Evon was born on September 11, 1950, in Perry to the late Bob and Virginia Harris Culpepper. She graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins. She worked at NAPA in Perry, delivering orders to customers all around Middle Georgia. Evon had given her life to the Lord and had been attending Houston Lake Baptist Church. At some point in her life, Evon converted to being a Warner Robins Demons fan, and attended many football games. She was also a fan of Georgia Bulldog football. Evon was dedicated to her husband and enjoyed doing anything he was involved with including horses, boating, traveling in their motor home, and riding motorcycles. In fact, they have attended Bike Week in Daytona, Florida, every year for the past thirty-two years.
Evon was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Vivian Purser.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Evon are her loving and devoted husband of fifty-five years, Steve Wiley of Elko; her daughters, Hazel Kersey of Elko, Dana Walker of Missouri, and Jackie Blood of Texas; her granddaughter, Brittany Proctor (Andrew) of Elko; her great-grandchildren, her brothers, Bobby Joe Culpepper of Montezuma and Dan Culpepper of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
