EULA MARIE EDWARDS's Obituary
Eula Marie Edwards possessed a personal testimony of being sanctified --- and having nothing between her and the Lord. Thus, she passed from this earthly existence to her heavenly home at the age of 72 on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Although she was desperately ill at the time, her homegoing did not show any sign of struggle.
She leaves her immediate family to grieve: Curtis Edwards of Loganville, Georgia, her husband of 53 years. Additionally, two daughters and their families: Shelly and Steve Jernigan of Franklin, Virginia – and their three daughters, Madison, Marina, and Presley; Eden and Justin Johnson of Monroe, Georgia – and their two sons, Hudson, and Miller. She possessed a grandmother’s love, concern, and adoration. Eula’s extended family members include one brother, Richard Belcher of Shawnee, Oklahoma and his wife, Karen. Also, one sister, Rada Hull of Shawnee, Oklahoma and her husband, Robert. Two sisters-in-law: Jackie Hashemi of Norman, Oklahoma and Nancy Reed of Moore, Oklahoma. Also, countless nieces and nephews to the third generation.
Born on June 4, 1951, Eula lived all her days on “Red Hill” in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the same area her grandparents moved to in the early 1900s “Oklahoma Land Run Days” – and where they were instrumental in the founding of the Methodist Church. Eula married on November 28, 1969, and delighted in motherhood and raising her children. Additionally, she loved (and sometimes spoiled) her children’s children. To them, she was not Grandmother but “Nammy” --- a Nammy, who in the background helped to instill God into little minds. This is the same God that she had an unwavering, decades-old, commitment to. She detested evil and believed & practiced the holiness doctrine of righteous living. Eula was a Proverbs 31 woman and “The Rock” of the Edwards’ home. Her “discernment” was rarely ever wrong. Underneath her silent demeanor, she had a wealth of talents and traits that served her well. She was extremely particular, strong-willed, totally comfortable in her own skin, and quietly confident. Peer pressure was non-existent in her make up because of an independent disposition that was firmly grounded in not caring what others thought; therefore, she was not swayed by people’s opinion. Eula was highly organized and methodical. Things had to be done just “so-so.” She possessed an incredible memory, and “Museum quality cleanliness” was her attribute. Naturally gifted in decorating, she also mastered the art of cooking with recipes committed to memory and a box full of written ones. She said that cooking had to have the ingredient of “love.” Based on the fact that people raved over her cooking & loved to come to her table, it is evident that there was a heaping amount of love thrown in! We would not call Eula back from the glory world that salvation has granted her --- but we sure would like to see this earth angel just one more time.
